Black Forest Gateau

The Black Forest Cake or Black Forest Gateau is based on the German dessert, Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. This has layers of moist chocolate sponge with a delicious layer of freshly made tangy, and sweet cherry compote, filled and covered in fluffy vanilla whipped cream. This is decorated with dusted cocoa powder, whipped cream kisses, chocolate shards and cherry gel.
